Bonita “Bonny” Kaye Floyd Billings

Bonny Billings, age 56, of Gatesville, passed away on February 14, 2018. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Gatesville. Her cremains will be placed with her husband at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen at a later date. Bonny was born on October 25, 1961 to William and Neta Rogers Floyd on Bentwaters Royal Air Force Base in England while her father was serving in the U.S. Air Force. She graduated from Gatesville High School in 1980 where she was active in marching band, art and volleyball. After high school, she attended Baylor University before receiving her associate’s degree from TSTC. Bonny was adventurous and moved to California for a few years before returning to Waco where she worked at Cox’s designing displays. She met her husband, Wayne Billings in Waco. They were married July 20, 1991 at First Baptist Church of Gatesville and then they moved back to Gatesville. Shortly after returning home, she started teaching at the First Baptist Church Academy. Bonny retired in December after 22 years. Bonny was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church where she served in many roles. Bonny loved life and brought life everywhere she went. She was an artist in all she did. Her laugh was boisterous and infectious. She touched many lives throughout her short but full life. Bonny was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Billings. Bonny is survived by her daughter, Whitney Billings; parents, Dr. William and Neta Rogers Floyd; sisters, Becky Wilkins and husband, Wayne, Elizabeth Berry and husband, Clayton, Beverly McNeal and husband, Scott; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dachshund, Bruno.
