Mr. Boyd Franklin Rodgers, age 75 of Flat, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at the Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lance King officiating. Burial will follow at the Levita Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Rodgers was born in Purmela, TX on May 24, 1934, one of a set of triplets, to the late William and Clara Rodgers. The family moved to Gatesville in the late 1950’s. Boyd served his country in the United States Army. He worked for the telephone company in Gatesville and Killeen for 40 years. He was part of the Sid White Singers. After retiring from the phone company he enjoyed fishing and visiting family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmom Beretha Spencer Rodgers Brothers; brothers, Lloyd Rodgers and Frances Rodgers; sister, Minnie Clara Nave; a grandchild, Hailey Giger; and a very loved cousin, Connie Morse. He is survived by daughters, Terri Warren and husband Larry and Tammy Giger; a son, John Rodgers; brothers, Brevard Rodgers, and Floyd Rodgers and wife Pat; a sister Flora Berry and husband Garland; sister- in- law Adele Rodgers; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Boyd’s memory to the First Baptist Church of Flat.
