Jimmie Geneva Painter, age 93 of Gatesville, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at a local nursing center. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Deral McWhorter officiating. Burial will follow at the Coffey Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at a luncheon at the Cedar Ridge Church of Christ following the burial. Mrs. Painter was born on April 6, 1916 in the Ruth community of Ft. Hood to the late William “Bud” Monroe and Abbie Lee Powell Truss. Her family lived in the Ft. Hood area until moving to Gatesville in the early 1940’s. She married A.E. “Jack” Painter on August 3, 1937. They were married 55 years before he preceded her in death in 1992. She and Jack lived out their lives in Coryell County as farmers and ranchers. She was a “true farm wife,” many times even helping with plowing. She loved to garden and can fresh food and she was a quilter. She was a faithful member of the Cedar Ridge Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 son-in-law, M.D. Gartman; and 2 brothers, Thomas Jefferson Truss and William Andrew Truss. She is survived by her daughter, Gay Charlotte Gartman; grandchildren, Marion Gartman Young and husband, Douglas, and Jimmy Dale Gartman; great grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob Young, Lariat and Lane Gartman, and Kelsie Smalley; and great- great grandchildren, Sophia Suzanne and Joshua Zepher. Pallbearers will be Josh and Jacob Young, Lariat Gartman, Bill Truss, Ricky Hamilton, and Johnny Ray McCormick. Honorary pallbearers will be the Truss nephews Gayle, Tom, Terry, Tim, Ted, Travis, and Troy. In Lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made in her name to the Coffey Cemetery, 3560 FM 215, Gatesville, Texas 76528
