Gladys Powell Mayhew, 98, of Pancake passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Dominy officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Gladys was born on July 6, 1911 in Coryell County, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Gus Jones and Emma Powell Jones. She graduated from Gatesville High School in 1930. Gladys married Samuel Monroe Mayhew in October of 1931 in Gatesville. She worked at the Jonesboro ISD for 31 years. She was also a member of the Jonesboro Methodist Church. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son; Sammy Powell Mayhew; siblings, Walter Jones, Buster Jones, Marvin Jones, Thurman Jones, Georgia Patterson, Nona Brown and Pauline Chambers. She is survived by her son, Billy Mayhew and wife Betty of Gatesville; daughter, Barbara Terrell Miller and husband Tom of Gatesville; daughter-in-law, Joann Mayhew Gray of Waco; grandchildren, Janet Lopez and husband David of Waco, Johnny Mayhew and wife Monica of Hewitt; Jacqueline Gohlke and husband Randy of Coryell City, David Mayhew and wife Marci of Gatesville, Suzanne Mayhew of Gatesville; sister-in-law, Sue Jones of Gatesville; great grandchildren, Nikki Hill, Shauna Hill, Angie Hudson and husband Keith, Jake Mayhew, Marleigh Mayhew, Micah Mayhew, and great great grandchildren, Kalib Hudson, and Grace Hudson. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Jonesboro Cemetery Association in care of Myra Nichols, 875 CR 218, Gatesville, TX 76528
