Julia Viola Warren West, age 78, of Gatesville, died on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at her home in Gatesville after a brief illness with cancer. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Scott’s Funeral Home with burial following at Restland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Julia was born on February 1, 1932 to the late Clarence and Zelma Martin Warren in Coryell City, Texas. She attended school at Coryell City through the 8th grade and then attended high school in Gatesville where she graduated in 1951. On July 14, 1951, Reverend Ramon Sims, married Julia to her first love, Lesley West of Belton in Gatesville. She worked as a florist for almost 15 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a sister, Annie Mae Buster. Julia is survived by a daughter, Gale Ralston and husband, Ronnie of Gatesville; son, Darrell West and wife, Devonne of Temple; grandchildren, Cindy Holley and husband, Buddy of Gatesville, Laurie Benmire of Houston, Wade Ralston and wife, Lynette of Morgan’s Point, Summer Godfrey and husband, Josh of Gatesville, Amanda Hensley and husband, Scott of Katy, TX; six great grandchildren, Eian Hurlburt, Dakota Vernon, Christina Hensley, Tyler Godfrey, Maddison Holley, and Ben Hensley; and three sisters, Joyce Ward and husband Ray of Tyler, TX, Dolly Watts of Woodway, and Irona Alexander and husband, Gary of Burleson, TX. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to Harmony Baptist Church, 4921 E. US Hwy 84, Gatesville, Texas 76528.
