Alan Brant Miller, age 77 of Gatesville, passed away on the evening of September 8, 2021 surrounded by his family.
The family will hold a private memorial service at later date.
Alan was born in Wichita, KS to the late Alexander Brant Miller and Dorothy Evelyn Watkins Miller. He grew up and attended school in Tulsa, OK and graduated from Tulsa High School. Weekends and summers Alan could be found on Lake Fort Gibson driving boats, water skiing and fishing. He attended one year of college before joining the United States Coast Guard. Alan served four years before being Honorably Discharged. He stayed in Long Beach, CA after his service where he started racing sailboats up and down the Pacific coast. This love of racing led to Alan racing powerboats for Carlson Boats, Eliminator and Laser Boats, also joining the “Power Boat Racing 100 MPH Club” in 1980. Alan was born again and baptized in Pirates Cove Newport Beach, CA in 1975. He married Jan “Jami” Allen on July 24, 1976 at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, CA. Alan and Jan moved to Texas in 1981 and then to Gatesville in 1984 where they continued to live and raise their family. Alan worked at Medical Plastics for over 20 years in Research and Development. He was a member of Coryell Community Church and served as an audio/visual technician for over 20 years. Alan will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Alan is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jan Miller; sons, Seth Miller and wife, Lyndie, Sean Miller and wife, Katherine; daughters, Lisa Phillips and husband, James, Sara Marquez and husband, Josh; grandchildren, Jordan, Paxton, Charlotte, Alyssa, Mason, Trinity, Bryson, Lucy, Bonnie, and Marley; sister, Cheryl Heath.
