Alford H. Evetts, age 92 of Gatesville, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 in Gatesville.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Pidcoke Cemetery, with Jimmy Ferguson officiating. In remembrance of Alford, his favorite musical family and neighbors, the Boatwright Family will be performing at the graveside service.
Alford was born on September 14, 1927 in the Slater community of Coryell County to the late Hugh and Betty Basham Evetts. He grew up between the Slater and Pidcoke communities. He married Ruby Lee McCutchen on March 29, 1946. He began working in the roofing industry in Ft. Worth for 12 years, until going into business for himself. He owned and operated Evetts Roofing for 63 years, retiring in 2012. He also was a farmer and rancher on his “Lost Valley Ranch” in Pidcoke and homebuilder in Copperas Cove. He was a member and deacon of Pidcoke Baptist Church, after moving to Gatesville he and his wife became members of Live Oak Baptist Church. He was a member of the Killeen – Copperas Cove Homebuilders Association and served on the Pidcoke Cemetery Association, where he was president for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruby Lee Evetts on January 23, 2013; grandson, Richard Harold Evetts; brothers, Robert H. Evetts, Wendell Evetts, Curtis Evetts, Carroll Wayne Evetts, Bobby Evetts; sisters, Catherine Jones and Margaret Ruth Veazey.
Alford is survived by a son, James Evetts and wife, Donita Evetts of Cleburne; daughter, Judy Rader and husband, William C. (Bill) Rader of Gatesville; five grandchildren, Kim Rader, Dana Glosup, Brian Rader, Shanda Ward, Nathan Evetts; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorials be made to Pidcoke Cemetery Assn., 105 River Ridge Dr., Gatesville, TX 76528.
