Alford Ray Perkins, age 80 of Gatesville, passed away on the morning of December 7, 2020. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Smith-King Cemetery with Rev. Wray Nunn officiating.

Alford was born on April 6, 1940 to the late Andrew and Ivy Blakeny Perkins. As a child Alford moved around a lot as his father was following work.  Alford would go to school for a while and then have to go and work with his father and brothers for months before going back to school.  This led to a work ethic that would last a life time. Growing up Alford wore numerous hats as far as jobs go and though he worked various job the one most fitting was a greeter at Walmart. Here he carried his most precious talent of being friendly and always helpful with a smile and a laugh. Alford's belief in Christ was expressed through his actions. He is definitely enjoying his reunion with his wife Sarah and his parents and siblings.  

 

He was preceded in death by, his parents; wife, Sarah Perkins (Gober); siblings, Amy Cox, Joe Perkins, Jewel Hosington, Molly Finely, Billy Perkins, Henry Perkins, Edie Collins and Christine Bottoms.

Alford is survived by, his siblings, Tommy Perkins of Bangs, TX and Hazel Bell of Hamilton; children, Alford Ray Perkins Jr., Bulah Waller, Charles Waller, William Waller, Alvin Waller, Bobby Waller, Tommy Waller, Gary Waller, Ray Waller; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
