Ann Sellers, age 86 of Gatesville went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 25, 2023, with her daughter holding her tight.
She will be laid to rest on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at a private family graveside service, with Pastor Jon Crosby officiating.
Anna Vera Sellers was born on July 21, 1936, in the Antelope community, now part of Fort Hood to Maudie Inez and Raymond Clovis Callan. The family later moved to Evant, where she attended school and was raised in a farm and ranch lifestyle, which included picking cotton, pulling broomcorn, and killing a lot of rattle snakes and copperheads! Ann met the love of her life, Billy Sellers on a blind date and they were together for almost 47 years, until his death on January 17, 2001. Ann was a dedicated wife, who ALWAYS followed her husband’s dreams. They did custom farming for the public and owned the John Deere Implement Company for 10 years. Ann could sprig, bale hay, plow, combine and do ALL farming chores as good or better than most men. They lived in Giddings and Flatonia for six years, while Billy worked for Gulf Coast Oil Company, with Ann working right alongside him climbing the tanks and checking their readings. They moved to Mansfield around 1986, because her husband took a job with Central Freight Lines driving an 18 wheeler for ten years, and yes… she drove an 18 wheeler for a few years alongside Billy.
Ann was a dedicated wife, mother, and friend in every sense of the word. She was loving, caring, hardworking, kind, sweet and 100 percent selfless, always putting others before herself. She was a fabulous cook and loved cooking all her family their favorite meals and desserts. Your tea glass was never empty in her presence.
Ann loved spending time with her kids, grandkids and great grands more than anything on earth. She was the very BEST “MeMe” and they each have many memories spent with her. She loved a good competitive game of HIGH 5 or 42 dominoes and those were some of her best memories spent with family and brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son, Bob Sellers and wife, Suzanne of Gatesville; daughter, Deb Sellers of Gatesville, grandkids, Kami Williams and husband, Curtis, Zeb Veazey and wife, Monica, Matt Sellers and wife, Jessica and Jessica Sellers; great grandchildren, Owen Sibley, Chett Sibley, Bralen Veazey, Jackie Blue Langston, and Jake Sauro.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the charity of their choice. The Boys and Girls Club and St. Jude were among her favorites, Boys and Girls Club, 2533 E. Main Street, Gatesville, TX 76528 and www.stjude.org/donate/.
