Barbara Jean Oldham

Barbara Oldham, age 75 of Jonesboro, passed away on the morning of July 18, 2020. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 20, 2020 at Ireland Cemetery.

Barbara was born on December 25, 1944 to the late Ennis Edward and Rosa Barker Halk. She grew up and attended school in Gatesville. After high school Barbara became a waitress and worked at Dyke’s Café and Meeks Café in Gatesville. She married Johnny Oldham in January of 1972. They drove trucks for Bill Smith Trucking in Chilton for three years before Johnny went to Wilson Art and Barbara went to work for TDCJ.  After about ten years of working apart they decided to purchase their own truck and became owners and operators of their own trucking business. Barbara loved her fur babies more than life. She also loved fishing and camping with her family when her children were younger. Barbara knew she was a Christian being baptized at an early age and continuing her faith throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 36 years, Johnny Oldham; brother, James Logan; great-granddaughters, Charlee and Laynie Rusk.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Brenda Rhudy and husband, James; sons, John Oldham and wife Nina, Wayne Oldham and wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Bryan, Tawyla, Shanna, Shelbi, Justin and Garrett; great-grandchildren, Emma, Romi, Parker, Lynzee, Hadlee, JoJo and Lucas; adopted grandchildren, Josh, Caleb and Ryan Barnes who consider Barbara their “Texas Grandmother”; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
