Berniece Millsap Powell

Berniece Powell, age 89, of Gatesville, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018.  Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2018 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at Slater Cemetery.  Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the funeral home. Berniece was born on February 16, 1929 in Pidcoke, Texas to the late William Cross Millsap and Edith Herrmann Millsap.  She grew up in Purmela and attended school there until the school was closed.  Berniece went on to graduate from Gatesville High School.  After high school, she attended and graduated from beautician school in Waco.  She practiced as a beautician for several years before joining the opening of Medical Plastics.  She retired from Medical Plastics with over 30 years of service.  Berniece loved to fish and could out fish anybody.  She also loved caring for and raising baby goats on the farm.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, F.L. Powell; and granddaughter, Missi Dunahoo.Berniece is survived by her daughter, Sharron Moore and husband, Raymie; sons, Frank Powell and wife, Phyllis and Gil Powell and wife, Candy; grandchildren, Tracy, Kevin, Brandon, David, Logan, Tyler, Raymond, Nathan, and Jason; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Emma Dyer of San Angelo; brothers, Thelbert Millsap of Stephenville and Ace Millsap of McGregor.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Slater Cemetery, 1865 CR 140, Gatesville, TX 76528.
