Carl (Sonny) Drosche, the son of Karl Rudolf (Rudolph) Drosche and Frieda Anna Emilie Tolkmitt Drosche, was born at The Grove, Texas on June 16, 1941. He was received into his heavenly home to be with Jesus forever on Saturday, June 8, 2024.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2024 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in The Grove, with Pastor John Heckmann officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Carl Rudolph Drosche was both baptized on June 29, 1941, and confirmed on April 3, 1955 in St. Paul Lutheran Church. His confirmation verse was Psalm 145:18 -19.
18 The Lord is near to all who call on Him,
to all who call on Him in truth.
19 He fulfills the desire of those who fear Him.
He also hears their cry and saves them.
He attended St. Paul Lutheran School, The Grove and Flat High School. He also attended one year as a freshman at Concordia College in Austin.
As a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, he faithfully attended Sunday Bible Class and Worship Services. He occasionally served as an Elder of the congregation, Sunday School Superintendent, as well as a financial money counter and Secretary of the Voters Assembly.
Sonny, as he was affectionally called, was preceded in death by his mother on May 2, 1997, by his father on April 9, 2005, by a brother-in-law, Ralph Sohns on March 29, 1988, and a brother-in-law, Edwin Knoernschild, on March 5, 2010.
Sonny is survived by his four sisters, Ella Nora Sohns, Lenabell Sohns and husband, Wilbert Sohns, and Louise Drosche, all of The Grove and Iona Knoernschild of Cole Camp, MO. He is also survived by his nephews, Jimmy Sohns and wife Sharon Winkler Sohns of The Grove, Timmy Sohns and wife Stephanie Winkler Sohns of The Grove, Stephen Sohns and wife Ursula Gallmeister Sohns of Spring, Michael Sohns and wife Julia Williams Sohns of The Grove, Jeff Knoernschild of Sedalia, MO., and niece Paula Knoernschild Wienberg and husband Harold Wienberg of Cole Camp Mo., together with their families.
Sonny was a rancher and farmer his whole life. His life can be characterized as a love story. Just as he was loved by Jesus, he dearly loved Jesus, God’s Word, his church, St. Paul Lutheran, his four sisters and their families. He loved the land, ranching, livestock, and farming, the Drosche home place, and especially pecans and his pecan orchard. Those that knew him, recognized that as a child of His Heavenly Father, Sonny respected and was a ready help for all of God’s children!
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Sohns, Timmy Sohns, Stephen Sohns, Michael Sohns, Jeff Knoernschild, Ryan Sohns, Kaeden Sohns, Connor Sohns, Aaron Sohns, Ben Sohns, and David Sohns.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church and or memorial trees for planting on the church grounds. St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 The Grove Rd., Gatesville, TX 76528.
