Carol Stephens, age 74 of Gatesville, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022 in Waco, to be with her parents, brother and Heavenly Father.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Bruce Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery.
Carol Sue Stephens was born on May 16, 1947 in Clovis, New Mexico to the late Ervin Kirchmeier and Ernestine Blacklock Kirchmeier. She grew up and went to school in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She met and married Allen Stephens in 1965. They moved to Gatesville in 1970, where together they had two children, Tina and Jimmie. Carol loved to read, listen to old time gospel music and spending time talking with friends. She loved bragging on her grandchildren and Ashby and Quinlynn, whom she thought of as her own grandchildren. She was a caring wife, mother, Grammie, sister, and friend. She worked as a correctional officer for T.D.C.J. at the Crain Unit, retiring in 2004. She was a member of White Mound Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother Jim Kirchmeier.
Carol is survived by her children, Tina Bannister and husband, Kent, Jimbo Stephens and wife, Ashley; sister in love, Louise Kirchmeier, grandchildren, Chase Bannister and wife, Caitlin, Layton Bannister and wife, Taylor, Maci Bannister, Cutter Stephens, Kennedi Stephens, Caleigh Stephens; great grandchild, Luna Bannister and two on the way; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones including, Bryce and Ramey Barnett. She also leaves behind her loving dogs, Josie and Mattie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to White Mound Baptist Church, P.O. Box 103, Mound, TX 76558.
