Carrol Rommell, age 77, of Streetman, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 16, 2018 at Live Oak Cemetery in Hamilton County, Texas. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., Monday at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville. Carrol was born on May 15, 1941 in Richmond, Virginia to John A. Rommell and Bertha Pierce Rommell. He served in the US Air Force. He married Ray Atchley on June 10, 1962. He was a professional carpenter by trade and a professional fish guide. His greatest love was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed listening to blue grass music. His favorite pass times were fishing, hunting, bowling, gardening, and music. He served as a member of the Balch Spring City Council. He was active in Boys Little League Baseball and was instrumental in assisting with getting a Little League Baseball Complex built in Balch Springs. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Valley; father, John A. Rommell; sister, Barbara McDaniel; and brothers, John A. Rommell, Jr. and Eddie Rommell. Carrol is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Ray Atchley Rommell; daughter, Judy G. Rommell; son, Jamie E. Rommell and wife, Candy; granddaughter, Merry Mahaffey; grandsons, Douglas Rommell and wife, Chessica and Justin Smith and wife, Patricia; great-grandchildren, Lainey Mahaffey, Douglas Rommell, Jr., and Hunter Rommell; sister-in-law, Ann McGoogan and husband, John; brother-in-law, Doug Atchley and wife, Linda; many nieces and nephews; and a very special friend and member of the family, Butch Black.
