Charles Richard (Rick) Chambers, age 68, passed away March 11, 2024, in Gatesville, Texas.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Junction, 1216 Highway 36 Byp. N., Gatesville, Texas, on April 20th, from 12pm-3pm.
Rick was born on September 25, 1955, in Gatesville to Charles Chambers and Oleen Kelly Mitchell. He grew up on the family farm in Pancake, Texas. He graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1973.
Rick began his career in law enforcement as a dispatcher at the age of 17 for the Coryell County Sheriff’s Office. He attended Central Texas College and received his law enforcement certification. After a law enforcement career in Coryell and Hill County, he began driving a truck. He was currently employed with TTG Utilities, faithfully driving a truck.
Rick was known to always have a tall tale to tell. He was a practical joker and made everyone laugh. He always had a love for horses, loved to rodeo and enjoyed all types of water activities. He enjoyed vacationing in Cancun with his sister Charlene.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by daughter, Brandy Chambers Gorrell; granddaughter, Jaycee Miller and husband, Drew; and great-grandson Jackson Lee Miller. He is also survived by sister Charlene Chambers.
Memorials may be made to the Coryell County Pet Rescue- No Kill at 2217 E. Main St. Gatesville, TX 76528. When in law enforcement it was not uncommon for Rick to have stray animals riding in his patrol car on cold winter nights and to bring piglets into the house to stay warm.
