Charlotte Ray Gold

Charlotte Ray Gold, age 81, of Gatesville, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023.

Charlotte was born September 23, 1941, to the late Arthur Wayne Self and Martha Emma Hays Self, in Edmond, Oklahoma.  She was a published author, writing her own book and writing for other military and travel magazines.  She was the owner of a dog grooming and boarding business and also raised thoroughbred horses.  In her later years, she taught people with special needs how to train their own service dogs. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James (Buddy) Self; sister, Teri Halcombe Self; and nephew, Johnathan Self.

Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Nikki L. Lyon; son-in-law, William E. Lyon; granddaughter-in-law, Sabrina Olsen-Lyon; grandchildren, Jordan Michael Olsen-Lyon, Corinna Alyssa Lyon; great-grandchild, Alyza Fae Louise Olsen-Lyon; and many nieces and nephews.
