Cindy Ament Venable, age 53 of Gatesville, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, having fought a courageous battle with cancer for twenty-five years.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Gatesville, with Pastor Bill Bales officiating. The family will be receiving family and friends following services at the church. Private family inurnment will be at Gatesville Masonic Cemetery at a later date.
Cindy was born on August 21, 1967 in Gatesville. She grew up in Gatesville and graduated from Gatesville High School in 1985. She attended McLennan Community College and Central Texas College while working for Ward Insurance, Coryell County Farm Bureau and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. She then attended Tarleton State University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a minor in English. She began her teaching career in 1998 with the Gatesville Independent School District. While teaching, she earned her Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Tarleton State University. In 2010 she became the assistant principal at Gatesville Junior High School and assumed the lead principal at the junior high in 2012. She held this position until her retirement earlier this year in 2021.
Although she had no children of her own, children were her passion. She treated her nieces, nephews and cousins as her own children. They all adored and loved her and respected their “Ninny”. The children that she taught and administered over the years were also her passion and she could recall them all by name. In 2021 the Gatesville Junior High Library was named in her honor for her love of books.
Cindy is survived by her parents, Wyllis H. and Linda Sue Ament; brothers, Jamie Ament, Kris Ament and wife Gina; nieces and nephews, Clay Ament, Kari Gary and husband, Cameron, Hayden Ament, Hadleigh Ament; and a great nephew, Grant Gary; uncle, Charles Ament and wife, Debbie, Robert Blanchard and wife, Marsha and their families, Michelle, Tisha, Amy, Alisa, Austin, Jared and Jill. She is also survived by her loving dogs, Roxy and Maggie and her special friends who were very faithful to her.
