Clarence Garland, age 83 of Moody, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2023 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel in Gatesville.  Interment will be at Evergreen Bundrant Cemetery in Purmela.

 

Clarence Milton Garland was born on November 18, 1939 in South Plains, Texas, to Clarence E. Garland and Maddie Ammerman Garland.  He attended University High School in Waco.  He served in the Texas Army National Guard and worked as a stone mason and bricklayer in the Dallas/Ft Worth area.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jamie Sunela Garland; brothers, George Garland, Johnny Garland; sisters, Peggy Lippert, Mary Pulley; and a special friend, Louise Church.

 

Clarence is survived by his son, Guy Garland and wife, Leslie of Granbury, daughter, Debbie Phillips and husband, Mark of Granbury; sister, Dorothy Akins of Azle; brother-in-law, Jim Lippert of Athens; step-son, Kent Garland of Brady, step-daughter, Janna Guzman of Garland, and his pet, “Baby.”  He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Greg, Darrell, Betti, Liz, Howard, Lonnie, and Kori.
