Curtis Bankston, age 67 of the Ater community, went to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his family, on Monday, September 6, 2021 in Gatesville.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2021 at Ater Cemetery, with Pastor Cody Haines and Graves Wallace officiating. The family will receive visitors at Scott’s Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. until leaving to go to the cemetery in procession at 2:30.
Curtis was born on June 20, 1954 in Midland to the late Glen and Lena Jane Starks Bankston. He surrendered his life to Christ at the age of 38 and dedicated the remaining 29 years of his life to leading people to Christ. Through his ministry and counseling, he has changed thousands of lives. He has preached the Word wherever the Lord has sent him. He had a love for all missions, but Mexico held a special place in his heart. His favorite saying was, “Are you willing to take the nails”. Curtis’s life was a testimony that he was willing to do so. As a result of the “Word of God” Curtis instilled in so many, the “work” he started, will not end.
Curtis is survived by his wife of 21 years, Cindy Bankston; children, Jason Bankston, Chad Treadway, Brent Bankston and wife, Vicki, Jennifer Mann and husband, Will, Seanna Smith and husband, Wyatt, Landon Bankston; sister, Kathy Lackey and husband, Steve; brother, Danny Bankston and wife, Tammy; his grandchildren, that he loved dearly, Kolten and wife, Amber, Chelsi, Shelby and husband, Fahron, Matti, Bryce, Wade, Emma, Lillie, Kari, Maci; and great grandchildren, Aria, Karsyn, Tenley and Brady.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Blain Bankston.
In lieu of flowers, the family has designated that memorials be made to West Texas Boys Ranch, 10223 Boys Ranch Rd, San Angelo, TX 76904, https://www.wtbr.org/donate or Voice of Mexico Ministries, P.O. Box 421266, Del Rio, TX 78842.
