Cynthia Ann Johnston

Cynthia A. Johnston, age 83 of Gatesville, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Restland Cemetery, with Steve Thompson officiating.

Cynthia was born on September 20, 1937, to the late R.L. and Corine Lowery Homan.  She grew up and went to school in Gatesville, graduating from Gatesville High School in 1956.  She married Dennis Johnston on January 26, 1957.  Her and her husband owned and operated the Dairy Queen in Gatesville as well as in Copperas Cove and Arkansas, until 1981.  She then worked at T.D.C.J. at the Mountain View Unit until her retirement.  She enjoyed traveling and going to her favorite destinations in Las Vegas and Louisiana.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Gatesville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis Johnston in 1995; son, Michael Johnston in 2021. 

She is survived by her daughter, Denise Sullivan; brother, Jeff Homan; and an aunt, Nelda Lowery. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has designated memorials be directed to the Gatesville Care Center, 105 N. 7^th Street, Gatesville, TX 76528.
