Cynthia Smith Neatherlin, age 84 of Levita, last closed her eyes in this world on Thursday, May 18, 2023.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Ater Cemetery Pavilion, with Rev. Danny Crosby officiating. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023, at Scott’s Funeral Home.
Cynthia was born on October 30, 1938, in Pearl, Texas, to the late Oscar and Anna Smith. She attended school in Pearl and Evant, graduating from Evant High School in 1957. While in the fourth grade, she met Charles Neatherlin and he became the love of her life and they married on August 26, 1961. Charles was always busy and for almost 62 years, she followed his every step. She was an exceptional gardener, homemaker, wife, mother and “Gran.” She and Charles were members of Levita Baptist Church, where she was the Church Clerk for 30 years, and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of Levita Bible Fellowship.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carolyn Brooks; brothers, Gervase Smith and Bryan Smith.
Cynthia is survived by her “once in a lifetime” husband, Charles Neatherlin; daughter, Doris Farrar and husband, Billy; grandchildren, Rebekah Brown, Brittany Lord and husband, Josh, Orin Brown and wife, Marissa, Justin Brown and Dustin Brown; great-grandchildren, Jaycie, Kayleigh, Emmie and C. J.; sister, Gwen Fleming; brothers, F.B. Smith and wife, JaQue, James Smith and wife, Lynn; and Duane Smith. She also leaves behind treasured nephews, nieces and cherished family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Levita Bible Fellowship, 4460 FM 930, Gatesville, TX 76528.
