Daniel J. Hoisington, Sr., age 71 of Gatesville, passed away on the morning of July 7, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., at Scott’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Restland cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, July 12, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Scott’s Funeral Home. Daniel was born on January 1, 1950 in Leakey, TX. He was the fifth child born too David and Jewell Hoisington. In 1969, Daniel met the love of his life, Viola Gail Covey and they married that same year. Together they had three precious children, two boys, James and Jerald and a daughter, Sheila. He worked cutting cedar most of his life as well as he was a jack-of-all-trades kind of man. Daniel didn’t care what the work was as long as it put food on the table and paid the bills. He was a very devoted dad, son, brother, uncle and papaw. He enjoyed spending time on wood working projects in his shop. Daniel was a family man from the beginning and his grandbabies were his world. Daniel was called to rest on July 7, 2021. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Elijah, Jesse D. and David J. Hoisington; two great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Harrington and Daniel Whipkey. Daniel is survived by his wife, Viola Gail Hoisington; sons, James Hoisington and fiancé, Crystallyne Miller of Campwood and Jerald Hoisington and wife, Tonya; daughter, Sheila Whipkey and husband, Paul; brothers, Donald, Larry, Gary, Robert, Jesse and Leon Hoisington; sisters, Jewell Morrow, Dora Cox, Peggy Willingham and Susie Hamilton; grandchildren, Elizabeth Harrington, Melissa McMasters, Wayne Hoisington, Billy Whipkey, Tabitha Harper, Kevin Whipkey, Tyler Hoisington and Jessica Burkham; great-grandchildren, Trent Harrington, Alyssa, Colton and Karissa McMasters, Elizabeth, Erin, Shelby, Judith, Bethany and Virgil Hoisington, Jason and Melory Whipkey, Jax Harper, Braileigh and Aylin Burkham.
