David Bruton

David Bruton, age 60, of Flat, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018.  Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Carlos Webb officiating.  Burial will follow at Flint Creek Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.David was born on November 19, 1957 in Temple, Texas to the late Gene Bruton and Barbara Lam.  David grew up in Flat, Texas and attended school in Gatesville.  After high school, David went to work on Ft. Hood for the Department of Public Works (DPW), where he was a heavy equipment operator.  After more than 20 years of service, David went to work with his father at Bruton Construction.  He continued to operate heavy equipment and went on to run the company after his father passed.  David loved horses, be it breaking horses or just riding for fun.  He also loved antiques and the uniqueness of them all.  David was a “MacGuyver” of sorts, always tinkering and making things run when there was no way they should.  Most of all, David loved the time getting to spend with friends and family, telling stories of the good times. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, Bob Goynes.David is survived by his wife, Eddie Bruton; sons, Heath, Jared, Tannon Bruton, Jeremy and John Dossey; granddaughters, Randi Bruton, Karleigh Wismer, and Paige Lecture; grandsons, Tucker and Dylan Bruton, Brandon Cornuaud, Lane, Cody, Arron, and Brian Dossey; and sisters, Paula Goynes, Judy Belt, and husband Randy, and Brenda Marshall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to American Liver Foundation, 701 North Post Oak Road, Suite 515, Houston, TX 77024.
