Funeral services for DeeEtta Whisenhunt, 76 of Ater Community will be held at 10 AM Saturday August 8th at Coryell Community Church with Daniel Crowther officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter Susan Snoddy at Hay Valley following the service. DeeEtta went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 1st 2020 after a short battle with cancer. DeeEtta was born March 30th, 1944 to W. J Stubblefield and Elizabeth Gober Stubblefield from Bell County. She married Floyd Holice (Jody) New on July 5th 1963 in Gatesville where they made their home on South Mountain. She followed her dream to become a nurse and graduated in 1965 as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She spent many years working in the Emergency Room, OB/Labor and Delivery as well as Med Surgical here in Gatesville. She loved camping, fishing, and being outside with her family. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. She loved a beautiful yard and loved to work in it. She met and married W.N. (Bill) Whisenhunt June 12th 1990 where they made their home in Ater Community. DeeEtta was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, one sister, Bill Whisenhunt and Jody New and her favorite sister-in-law Shelba Jones. She is survived by daughter, Susan Snoddy and husband Ronnie of Gatesville; son, Adrian New and wife Christy of Bonham; grandchildren, Dylan Snoddy of Denver CO, Baylee Snoddy of Gatesville, Scarlett New of New Jersey, Graycie Davis of Bonham, Ally New, Weston New and Colton New all of Bonham. She is also survived by four sisters and a brother; Hazel Hodges, Jo Guill, Mildred Young, Alice Whisenhunt and Loyal Stubblefield as well as many nieces and nephews and special friends who loved her dearly. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society and The Boys and Girls Club of Gatesville.
