Luther Don Gaston, Age 74, formerly of Gatesville, passed away peacefully at Homestead Nursing & Rehabilitation in Hillsboro, Texas on Thursday, April 8, 2021. Graveside services are scheduled for 1:30 pm Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church Cemetery, Cranfills Gap, Texas. The family will receive visitors from 10 am to 12 pm on April 13, 2021, at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville, Texas. Don was born December 28, 1946, in Gatesville, Texas. He was the first son of the late Luther Ollie and Thelma Sims Gaston. Don grew up in Gatesville where he graduated from Gatesville High School. He was married to Jo Ann Ballard from 1966-1988 and they had four children together. Don was baptized at the Mountain Baptist Church on February 17, 1980. He worked for many years with Coca-Cola, Morse Body Shop and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He enjoyed listening to music, going dancing and writing poetry. He met Jennifer Scott Bybee from Whitney, Texas and they married November 19, 1995. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Ollie Gaston and Thelma Sims Gaston; sister, Eva Joan Gilliland; and brother, Jerry Lloyd Gaston. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jennifer Gaston; daughters, Shelly Washburn and husband, Kael, Stacy Griffin and husband, Danny; sons, Eddie Gaston and wife Elisha, Donnie Gaston; stepson, Kelby Williams and wife Kelly; brother, Mike Gaston and wife Jackie; 15 Grandchildren; 16 Great-Grandchildren; and his faithful cats, Maxine, Grayson and Boo.
