Donald Floyd Swartz, age 90, of Gatesville, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018 at his home. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Restland Cemetery, with Rev. Matt Dossey officiating. Donald was born on July 5, 1927 in Ohio to the late Floyd and Lucille Nixon Swartz. He married Irene Bauman in the late 1940’s in Greenup, Kentucky. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served for two years, before being honorably discharged. He was a semi-truck driver for 40 years. During his retirement years he welded and did mechanic work. They moved to Gatesville in 1982 and his wife preceded him in death on April 6, 1994. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Donald and Randy Swartz; son-in-law, Charlie Mullins; three brothers, Ivan, Dale and Joe Swartz; and three sisters, Pauline, Florence and Helen. Donald is survived by his daughters, Judy Bressler and husband, Ron, Kay Mullins, Louise Fritz, Shannon Taylor and husband, David; sons, Bob Swartz and wife, Anna, David Swartz, Leonard Swartz, Floyd Swartz and wife, Linda, Marty Swartz and wife, Linda; 28 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren;10 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Roe, Ilene Edwards, Rosie Kimble, Annie Myers, Suzi Price; brothers, Harry Swartz and Larry Swartz. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
