Donna Lynn Melton

Donna “Meme” Lynn Melton, age 66, passed away on August 15, 2022, at her home in Oglesby surrounded by family.

Meme was born in Waco to Cleston and Helen Markum on October 28, 1955, where she spent her life growing up.  She met and married Jerry Anthony Melton on March 25, 1975. They spent 47 years together making Oglesby, TX their home and went on to have three boys: Danny, Jay, and BJ.

Meme loved spending time with her family, laughing, and wearing a smile on her beautiful face. She was a loving and caring person to all, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved to play slot machine games, bingo, and cook big meals. She always made sure you had a full stomach to go home on and some leftovers. Meme took care of everyone as if they were one of her own, if you got to experience that homemade cooking, or a conversation on her front porch, you would never forget her.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Cleston and Helen Markum; brothers, Willie Chapman and Joseph Markum; and niece, Rhonda Mitschke.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Melton; three sons, Danny Markum and wife Stephanie, Jay Melton, and BJ Melton and wife, Terri; siblings, Ronnie Markum, Helen Hodder, Sharon Cook, Billy Markum, Lisa Burney, and Terry Markum; beloved grandchildren, Seth, Addy, and Paige Melton, and Kinnidy, Ian, and Jaxon Markum; and her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering at the Oglesby Community Center located at 118 Main St. Oglesby, TX on Saturday, September 10^th starting at 5:00 pm.  To honor her, we ask if you have any photos to please bring them with you.
