Doran E. (Whitey) Belknap, Sr. age 84, of Gatesville, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018 in Temple. Memorial Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2018 with military honors at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Doran was born on October 7, 1933 in Pataskala, Ohio to the late Sherman and Nola Von Schriltz Belknap. He grew up in the Columbus, Ohio area. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was discharged in 1955. He married Ferne Cockrell on April 16, 1954. He worked as a field agent for the Internal Revenue Service, before becoming self-employed as an accountant. He was a member of Emmanuel United Anglican Church in Waco. He was also a long-time member of the Gatesville Lions Club. One of his greatest joys in his life was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Doran is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ferne Belknap of Gatesville; daughter, Debra Aiken of Gatesville; son, Doran (Dody) Belknap, Jr. of Gatesville; brother, Nolan J. Belknap of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Stephens, Christopher Aiken, Doran Belknap III, Rebecca West, Megan Culpepper, Brandi Wujastyk, Robert Schiff, Arndria McGinnis, and Maeci Belknap; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
