Doris Ione Jackson

Doris Ione Jackson, age 90 of Gatesville, passed away on the evening of June 19, 2021. A Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 3, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Flat.

Doris was born on March 20, 1931 in Decorah, IA to the late Stanley Charles and Estella Abigale Lang Youmans. She loved to go to garage sales for the bargains she would and could find. She always found something that she needed. On one occasion Doris never got a chance to get change for a $100.00 bill she had been saving for garage sales. As it often happened Doris would find something at each garage sale she stopped at. Being all, she had was the large bill, the folks would just give her the item because they could not make change for the bill. Doris was an avid TV watcher and loved to sit in her recliner while watching the television. When she was away from home Doris would comment, she could hear her recliner calling her. She never thought her house was dirty, if you mentioned it needed to be cleaned, Doris was quick to change the subject to “Clean What”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley “Sam” and Estella Youmans; brothers, Charles, Franky, and Tommy Youmans; sister, Sandra Kay; former husband and father of children, Cargile; and sons, Tommy and Billy.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Shirley Smith and Tanya Baustian and husband, Harold; and son, Roger Jackson.
