Doris M. West

Doris M. West, age 90, of Gatesville, went to be with her Lord on Monday, September 17, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Charles McKamie officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Resthaven Cemetery in Belton.Doris was born on March 31, 1928 in Belton, to the late Dave and Annabelle Kelly Ralston. She married Hershel West on February 16, 1946, shortly after he returned from overseas while serving in the US Army.  Doris worked hard all her life to help support the family, in her later years she worked as a seamstress doing alterations for the public.  She had many hobbies and she loved to fish, and play card games, but her all-time favorite was playing dominoes.  She loved her family and all of her grandchildren who fondly referred to her as GOGO Granny because she stayed on the go all the time. She attended King Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel West in 1978; son, Billy West in 1998; and great-grandson, Tristin Porras.Doris survived by her son, Jimmy West and wife, Robbie of Moffat; daughters, Darlene Stepan and husband, James of Zabcikville and Brenda Buckner and husband, Wayne of Gatesville; nine grandchildren, Tracie West, Kevin West, Denisa West, Billy Dale West, Tim Keeton, James Stepan, Jr., Janice Stepan, Rhonda Acker and Steve Buckner; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.Memorials may be made to King Baptist Church, c/o 601 CR 135, Gatesville, TX 76528.The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Hillside Medical Lodge.
