Dorothy Louise Baize

Dorothy Louise Baize, age 93 of Gatesville, passed away on the evening of January 4, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenbriar Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2020.

Dorothy was born on January 17, 1926 in Gatesville, TX to the late William Roland and Edda Mae Wilson Blanchard. Oldest of seven siblings, she grew up and attended school in Gatesville, graduating with the class of 1942.  Dorothy married Loraine Baize on December 24, 1943. They lived all of their married lives in Gatesville. She loved to sew, crochet and was involved in many other crafts. Dorothy was a member of Mountain Baptist Church. She had a babysitting service in Gatesville for 17 years. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, of 68 years in 2012; her parents; sisters, Doris Marie Blanchard, Dean Lacy and Delores Soltow; brothers, Bobby and William Blanchard.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Sandra Adair, Marilyn Goss and husband, Danny, and Barbara Lynch and husband, Clayton; son, Jim Baize and wife, Becky; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Darlene Ellis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
