Dorothy Nell Gibson

Dorothy Nell Moore Gibson, age 92, passed away on November 24, 2024. Honoring her wishes, no visitation or services were held. She was laid to rest in Gatesville, Texas, in the family plot at Restland Cemetery.

Dorothy was born October 19, 1932, to John D. Moore and Lucille Woodruff Moore at the farm home of her great aunt near Oglesby, Texas. She graduated from Waco High School in 1949, 4-C Business College and attended Baylor University. She was employed for twelve years at James Connally Air Force Base prior to its closing, then transferred to the Waco Post Office. She was secretary to the Director of Mail Processing, but her last ten years of employment were Postmaster in Malone, Texas and Postmaster in Mt. Calm, Texas. She retired from the Mt. Calm Post Office in 1989 with 37 years of service. She was a member of Crestview Church of Christ.

Dorothy enjoyed traveling and visiting twenty-seven of the states, including Hawaii and Washington, D.C. She also visited Mexico and ten countries in Europe. She enjoyed reading and watching movies from her vast collection of DVDs. She was also a collector of Gone with the Wind memorabilia.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jerry Bob Moore.

She is survived by her much-loved daughters, Suzy Seitzler of Robinson and Stacey Gibson of Waxahachie; grandsons, Bo Powell and wife, Suzanne of Mart, Clay Powell and wife, Lauren of Buda; and great-grandchildren, Tate Saulters, Peyton Powell, Trey Powell, Caitlyn Powell and Carleigh Powell. 

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Crestview Church of Christ, 7129 Delhi Road, in Waco, Texas.
