Dorothy Haines

Dorothy Haines, age 92, of Gatesville, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 9, 2018 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Rev. Matt Richard officiating.  Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral services.Dorothy was born on December 16, 1925 in San Angelo, to the late Bryan and Lois Vannoy Haines.  She grew up in the Arnett community and graduated from Gatesville High School in 1942.  She received an Associate Degree from Tarleton State University and a Bachelor and Master Degree both from Sul Ross University.  She taught elementary music her entire teaching career, mostly in Freer, Texas.  After her retirement in 1988, she moved to San Angelo residing there until moving to Gatesville in 2011. She was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church.  She was very proud of her countless volunteer service hours at Shannon Hospital while living in San Angelo.  She also served her church as pianist and organist in Freer.  She enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; and a special friend, Norman Thomas.Dorothy is survived by her sister, Janell Zeigler and husband, Carol; and numerous cousins.Memorials may be made to Dorothy F.
