Dotti Firster

Dotti Firster, age 85 of Gatesville, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024. 

Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Jay presiding. 

Dorothy Duckworth Firster was born on April 12, 1939 to the late Ernest and Mary Doyle Duckworth in Columbus, Ohio. She grew up and attended school in Atlanta, Georgia, graduating from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in 1956. After graduation, she worked as a waitress and bartender at several different Atlanta area restaurants. Dotti enjoyed horseback riding and participated in rodeo barrel racing events during her younger years and was an avid reader, spending many hours in the library even in her adult years. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.  

She was unique, a light, and touched many people, bringing joy to their lives.  Her last years were spent at the Meadows providing color, liveliness, love and character to all those around her. 

Dotti was preceded in death by her parents and two older brothers, Robert and Donald Duckworth.

She is survived by her brother, Thomas Duckworth and wife, Sharon; sister, Rosemary Mathis and husband, Alan; two sons, Larry Firster and Michael Firster; and three grandchildren, Samantha, Riley, and Colten.
