Doyle Holt, age 87 of Hewitt, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Restland Cemetery with Pastor Sam Crosby officiating.
Doyle Ray Holt was born on June 28, 1936 in Oglesby, Texas to Waymon Arnold “Jack” and Era Autrey Holt. He grew up and attended school in Gatesville. On March 16, 1954, he married Betty Gilchrest and the two made their home in Gatesville. Several months later, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and attended basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He was stationed in both Georgia and in Japan during his enlistment. After returning to the United States and leaving the Air Force, he went to work for Gulf States Telephone Company and worked as a Lineman. Several years later, he joined the Waco Police Department as a police officer and spent the next 32 years serving as a faithful public servant. He honorably retired from Waco PD in 1994. In his spare time, he enjoyed tinkering with classic cars and collecting antiques.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Era Holt.
Doyle is survived by his wife, Betty, of 70 years; daughters, Brenda Adcock and husband, Joe of Round Rock, and Dee Ann Abel and husband, Franklin of Crawford; grandchildren, Drew Walker, Angela Walker, Kristi Holmes, Dylan Adcock, and Kyle Adcock; great grandchildren, Briella, Mallie, Oden, Jordan, and Kyra; and great-great grandchildren, Aniston, Evelyn, Laci, Scarlet and Kamila.
