Elsie Ann Hornung

Elsie Ann Schuster Hornung, age 80 of Gatesville passed away on August 17, 2024. 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church in Marion, Texas with Pastor Bryan Dziadik-Willingham officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery. 

Elsie Ann Schuster Hornung was born Tuesday, March 21, 1944, in Converse, Texas to the late Norma and Albin Schuster. Elsie was raised on a small family farm just outside of Converse when the world was going through many changes including the cold war, man’s first step into space, and the birth of rock and roll. Rock and roll and baseball, which Elsie played in school, were two of her biggest loves in life. Elsie was a child of God and lived life on her terms, never allowing anything to lessen the experience. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norma and Albin Schuster and brother, John Schuster. 

Elsie is survived by her two sons, Herbert and Ronald Hornung; brothers, Ernie and Larry Schuster; grandchildren, Cory and Shelby Hornung; nephews, Ricky, Jeff, Chris, Michael, and Curtis; nieces, Jeanie and Cindy; and many friends who loved her.
