Elwin Frank Williams

Elwin "Daddy Frank" Williams went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 13, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26th at Scott’s Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Cox officiating.

Frank was born on December 16, 1945, in Cullman, Alabama to Menorise Benjamin "Bill" Williams and Johnnie Annie Lee Jacobs Williams. After school, Frank joined the United States Army and proudly served his country. He had a great respect for Veterans his entire life. During his time in the Army, he was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas where he met the love of his life, Barbara Deene Meeks. The couple married on January 6, 1967, and had three children. They made their home in Gatesville, Texas to raise their family. Frank worked at the Texas Youth Commission and later at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice where he helped train and manage prison tracking dogs until retirement.

Frank had a strong passion for animals, especially his horses. In his younger years, he enjoyed team roping, going to rodeos and auctions, and riding every chance he could. He could often be found watching episodes of Gunsmoke and other old westerns and anyone who knew him knows he usually rooted for the Indians to win. He loved to talk and tell stories and everyone enjoyed his sense of humor and funny jokes. He was a wonderful husband, Dad, and PawPaw. He loved his family, his country, and God. He was a member of the Mound Cowboy Church and was forever grateful to his Church family for their love and support throughout the years. He will be greatly missed, but our faith assures us that we will see him again one day.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Annie Williams; daughter, Lisa Diane Cortasie; great-grandson, Harrison Brooks Williams; brother, Wayne Williams; and sisters, Linda Kritner and Barbara Kritner.

Frank is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Meeks Williams; son, Frank Williams Jr. and wife, Kay; daughter, Debbie McDaniel and husband, Geoff; six grandchildren, Kacie Mighell and husband, Ryan, Samantha Cortasie, Colton Williams and wife, Shelby, Ethan McDaniel, Emily McDaniel, and Kylie Williams; three great grandchildren, Ryker Mighell, Raynlie Mighell, and Hudson Williams; three sisters, Tina Kritner, Peggy Beasley, and Doris Mobley; two brothers, Larry Williams and Tony Williams; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and friends.

The family asks in lieu of flowers to support St. Jude’s childhood cancer research, the Mound Cowboy Church, or the local Veteran’s organization in his memory.
