Esse Kimbrew (Pete) Cornett was born January 28, 1938 to Esse Osborne Cornett and Maxie Brashears Cornett in Harmony, Arkansas. He married Melvina Arlene Evans June 12, 1956. He joined the Army in 1956 and proudly served 20 years retiring as a CW2 at Ft. Hood in 1976. Pete served in several countries including two terms in Vietnam. They had six children.
Pete passed away January 28, 2023, on his 85th birthday. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Harvey Ray Cornett; and his sister, Cordia Jane Fisher.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Arlene; six children, Clifford Ray Cornett and wife, Deborah, Charles David Cornett and wife, Vivian, Carl Esse Cornett and wife, Jacque, Teresa Arlene Moya and husband, David, Sharon Ann Hill and husband, James, and Patricia Faye Cornett; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pete was very proud of his military service, especially of serving two terms in Vietnam where he earned a Bronze Star. He enjoyed flying model airplanes, especially when he could fly them with his sons. He was a long-time member of the Temple Aeromodelers Flying Club. Pete also enjoyed cruising.
