Evajon Goode Rhudy, age 93 of Gatesville, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020 in Gatesville.
Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 12:00 noon Saturday at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple, with Rev. Ivan (Sonny) Garman officiating.
Evajon was born in Moffat, Texas to the late Claude C. and Mary Opal Johnson Goode. She married William Tatum, of Temple, in 1946, until his death in 1950. She then married Samuel Lee Rhudy in Temple in 1954, until his death in 2005.
Evajon graduated from Belton High School in 1942. She attended Baylor University Nursing Program in Waco and completed lab tech training at Breckenridge Hospital in Austin. Some of her work experience includes, lab technician at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, and Coryell Memorial Hospital. Her lifetime of service to others also includes foster parenting through Waco Center for Youth and home health care for Coryell Home Health Care System. She had an extraordinary faith in her God and was a devoted member of Sweet Home Baptist Church. She loved her family, gardening, was an avid student of the Bible and owner of the Revelation Book Store in the 1990s in Gatesville.
She was preceded in death by her son, William Andrew Rhudy; brothers, Charles W. Goode, Claude C. Goode Jr.; baby sister, Opal Goode; and many beloved step-siblings.
She is survived by her children, Diana Fincher and husband, David, Sam Rhudy and wife, Billye, Tim Rhudy and wife, Debbie, James Rhudy and wife, Brenda; eight grandchildren, Bryan, T.J., Lauren, Ben, Tawyla, Jordan, Missy and Brett; five great-grandchildren; and five nephews.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers memorials have been designated to Sweet Home Baptist Church, 511 N. 14th Street, Gatesville, TX 76528 or the North Ft. Hood Ministry, c/o First Baptist Church, 912 E. Main Street, Gatesville, TX 76528.
