Floyd Coplen

Floyd Coplen, age 74 of Gatesville, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 24, 2023, at McGregor Cemetery with Pastor Albert Fuentes officiating.    

Floyd Edward Coplen was born August 16, 1949, to the late Otto and Doris Ashby Coplen in Fort Worth, Texas.  He attended school in McGregor, graduating from McGregor High School in 1967.  He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1969 to 1973, serving in Vietnam.  He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he served as past Commander of V.F.W. Post 8230.  He retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in 2010.  In his spare time, Floyd enjoyed karaoke and playing poker with friends.      

He was preceded in death by his former wife, Patty Coplen, and daughter Holly Dienst.

He is survived by his wife, Ernestine Fincher Coplen; daughter, Angela Coplen; sons, Charles Coplen, and Shorty Fincher; brother, Vernon Lee Coplen; eleven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
