Gary Bass

Gary Bass, age 65 of Gatesville, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023.

Celebration of Life services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 8, 2023, at Scott’s Funeral Home.

Gary was born on September 18, 1958, to the late Sam and Joy Teague Bass of McGregor.  He grew up and attended school in McGregor.  He worked as a mechanic and later as a machine operator for various local gravel companies.  He married the love of his life, Debbie Campbell, on June 30, 1978, and the two made their home in Gatesville.  Gary enjoyed fishing, “grabbin and giggin”, setting trotlines, and camping with his brother (Danny) and father-in-law.  He also enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, as well as Andy Griffith, and Gun Smoke.  Gary was always willing to help anyone in need and was just a phone call away.  He also took great pride in his little buddy, Christopher, who was better known as Gary's partner in crime.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pam Whaley; and children, Christy and Justin Bass.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Debbie; sisters, Athey Bass, and Misty Bass; brother, Jack Bass; daughter-in-law, Lacey Bass; grandchild, Christopher Bass; numerous nieces and nephews, and his constant fur baby companion, Baby Girl.

In lieu of flowers, Gary’s family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
