Gary Lee Green

Gary Lee Green, age 73, of Gatesville, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018.  Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2018 at Post Oak Cemetery.Gary was born on December 10, 1944 in Gatesville, to the late Wilson and Janice Mayes Green.  Gary grew up and attended school in Gatesville.  After high school, Gary joined the Navy and served three tours in Vietnam as a Navy Medical First Aid Attendant.  After his honorable discharge, Gary attended mortician school in Houston.  After graduating, he continued to work in the Houston area specializing in restorative art.  In the early 1980’s, Gary moved to Gatesville where he managed the Chateauville Restaurant.  Gary was an excellent chef, he was known for preparing some great meals.  Gary liked to fish when he could find the time.  He also loved his two dogs.  In the recent years, Gary taught himself Hebrew so that he could read the original transcripts of the Bible. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Donald and David Green.Gary is survived by his daughter, Amy Boyer; son, Lee Matter; sisters, Carolyn Zapata and husband, Tony, Jo Fieseler, and Patti Mason and husband, Johnny; and numerous nieces and nephews.Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at donors@stjude.org.
