Deanna Gay Fry, age 49, of Wichita Falls, went to be with the Lord the morning of January 23, 2022. She showed her strength until the end and fought a hard fight. While Gay may have lost her battle with COVID, she outlived her life expectancy by many years. Gay was born with Hallervorden Spatz Disease, Cerebral Palsy and intellectual disabilities, but she loved life and brought so much joy to others.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville. Private family graveside services, with Pastor Bruce Cox officiating, will follow on Friday at the Fry ranch in Ft. Gates. Visitation in Wichita Falls will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 30th at the family home in Iowa Park, 2919 Peterson Rd South.
Gay was born on February 29, 1972, in Gatesville, to Deborah McCoy Fry and Larry Fry. Gay grew up in Gatesville with the love of family and many friends. Gay attended Gatesville I.S.D. from age three to twenty-one. She was blessed with caring and loving teachers and enjoyed her years as a student. Gay had a strong love for sports and enjoyed watching football and basketball games. She could always be found watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns. She was once upon a time Michael Jordan’s biggest fan and rarely missed a Chicago Bulls game in the 90s. In 1996, Gay moved to Wichita Falls with her mother and step-father, Regan. In Wichita Falls, Gay made many new friends and enjoyed new adventures. She spent numerous summers attending Camp Tejas, a camp for those with special needs. She also enjoyed Miracle League baseball, which was a ton of fun to watch. Gay loved attending church, spending time with her nieces and nephews, watching her favorite shows, and talking to whoever would listen. Gay of course, always enjoyed her trips back to Gatesville to visit family and friends and go feed the cows with her dad.
To those of you who knew Gay Fry, you know how special she was. She was a precious gift from the Lord, who blessed all who knew her. She was happy, bossy, loving, sassy, and always funny. Thank you to everyone who loved her and treated her with such kindness over her almost 50 years of life.
