Geneva Pauline (Polly) Bales

Geneva Pauline (Polly) Bales, age 93, of Jonesboro, passed away Thursday November 14, 2019 in Temple.  Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, November 18, 2019 at Scott’s Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2019 at the Funeral Home. Polly was born July 9, 1926 to Lila Mae Hopson Alford and Robert Lee Alford of the Schley community.  She attended elementary school in Schley and then high school in Gatesville.  She married John Hugh Bales, March 8, 1943.  They farmed for nearly 70 years in Coryell County.  John & Polly moved to the Jonesboro community in the late 40’s.  Polly started working at the Jonesboro Cafeteria in the 50’s until she retired in the late 70’s. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John and grandson Todd Gunter. Polly is survived by a daughter, Ann Gunter and husband John of Rogers; son, Don and wife Marcia of Jonesboro; grandchildren;  Calvin Gunter and wife Jennifer of Bastrop, Carrie Brizendine and husband Wayne of Gatesville, Mandi Wilson and husband Danny of Jonesboro; great grandchildren, Hannah Wilson, Tyler Wilson, Abby Wilson of Jonesboro, Carson Brizendine, Mason Brizendine, of Gatesville and Isabella Gunter and Wilhelmina Gunter of Bastrop;  Three brothers, Tom Alford of Noblesville, Indiana, Jerry Alford of Pilot Point, and John Alford of Karmack; sister, Bobbie Buckner of Lubbock and several nieces and nephews.
