George Walter Corbett, age 95, of Evant, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Hillside Medical Lodge in Gatesville, Texas after a long illness. A memorial service will be held in the near future for family and friends to celebrate the life of a very special man. Burial will be in the private family cemetery. Mr. Corbett was born on May 23, 1923 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He graduated from Bradford Sr. High in Bradford, Pennsylvania. He proudly served in the US Army in WWII in the European Theater; he was at the Liberation of France, the Battle of the Bulge, and other battles throughout Europe. He married Evelyn Gurnot on May 24, 1946. He was a respiratory therapist for 36 years. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. He was a quiet, gentle, and kind man. He was a longtime member of the Christian Biblical Church of God. Mr. Corbett is survived by his wife of 72 ½ years, Evelyn Marie Corbett; three children, Kathy Ruth Mawer of Debary, Florida, Terry Alan Corbett and wife, Janice of Evant, Texas, and Holly Lynn Jordan and husband, Andrew of Bowling Green, Kentucky; and six grandchildren, Stephanie Cushman and husband, Dan of Debary, Florida, Edward Young and wife, Melissa of Deland, Florida, Terry Corbett, Jr. and wife Nicole of Lumberton, Texas, Dominic DeCaro and wife, Susan of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, James Corbett and wife, Rachel of Crawford, Texas, and Daniel DeCaro and wife, Marci of Louisville, Kentucky.
