James Grady Dodd, Jr., age 74, of Gatesville, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 in Temple. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville. Burial will follow on Thursday at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.Grady was born March 27, 1944 in Houston, Texas to the late James Grady and Viola Millard Dodd. He grew up in Houston, worked and owned several businesses with his father after graduating Memorial High school and Lon Morris College. He met his first wife, Gloria Kay Haywood in Houston and they were married in February 23, 1974. He had one son, James Grady Dodd III. Grady moved his family to Gatesville in 1984, where they ran Gatesville Florist for several years. Grady was very active in the community and church, serving as a scout leader, Gatesville I.S.D. school board president, and national church delegate for Presbyterian Church USA. After the passing of his first wife in 1998, he met and was eventually remarried to Nadine Lambeth on January 16, 2009, whom he lived with in Gatesville until his passing. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gatesville.He is survived by his wife, Nadine Lambeth; his son, James Grady (Trey) Dodd III and wife, Jen of Fort Worth; his brother, Randy Dodd and wife, Pam of Buffalo, Texas; and his sister, Marynell Wallace and husband, Jim of Ladson, South Carolina; and three grandchildren, Corey, Eli, and Nathan.
