Harold Earl Vandiver

Harold Earl Vandiver, age 87, of Gatesville, passed away surrounded by his family, on Sunday, August 12, 2018.  Memorial graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Restland Cemetery.Harold was born on April 16, 1931 in Gatesville, TX to the late Hi Dave and Grace Davis Vandiver.  He grew up and attended school in Gatesville and Oglesby.  Harold was a drywall specialist, working in the construction field for over 50 years in and around Coryell County. Harold loved his family and loved spending time with them.  His grandkids and great-grandkids were the light of his life and he was always happy to spend time and visit with them.  Harold liked to fish if he could find the time away from working.  Harold married Yvonne Mohler Smith on March 15, 1961.  They spent 57 wonderful years together in Gatesville. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Allen, Glen, Don, and Doug Vandiver; and sisters, Virginia Scott and Ann Vandiver.Harold is survived by his wife, Yvonne Vandiver; daughters, Marilyn Jackson and Tamra Smith; sons, Roger Smith and wife, Opal, and Russell Vandiver and wife, Mary; grandsons, J.T. Smith and wife, Jodi, and Chase Smith and wife, Amanda; granddaughter, Stacie Garcia and husband, Mark; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Gage Garcia, Brayden, Riggan, and Hayzan Smith, and Max Smith.
