Herman Larry Pearson was born on July 1,1947 to the late Hermon and Dorothy Pearson. He attended school in Gatesville and graduated in 1968. Herman married Joan Wilson on December 21, 1968. Theirs was a life-long love story that could be seen in the way they held hands and cared for one another through thick and thin. In 1971 they welcomed a son, Jonathan, and a daughter, Alicia, followed in 1976. Family was important to Herman and from motor bikes to water skis, he loved finding activities that the whole family could enjoy. Many hours were spent working on, washing and waxing any vehicle he owned, whether they needed it or not. The fact that daughter-in-law, Angie, never washed a vehicle drove him crazy and he never missed an opportunity to tell her so. Perhaps the most beautiful thing was watching Herman as a Pawpaw to his grandkids. Victoria, Heather, Katy and John Riley were his joy. His face would light up anytime one of them was around and he found great delight in watching the world unfold through their eyes. Later, he became Pops to Laston and Paw to Olivia and Avery who may not have been related by blood but were definitely family just like Jeremy, Jenny and Laekin were. Herman had a love for life and NEVER met a stranger. Friends were family and he loved you with all his heart. Fishing was a passion that Herman loved to share with anyone that would hop on the boat and hold a rod with him. The only thing better than catching the fish was the fish fry that would follow. He loved sitting around and sharing stories almost as much as he delighted in eating the fish hot out of the grease. Herman had no filter so you always knew exactly what was on his mind, even if it made you blush or cringe a little…his kids can attest to that. His time on earth left so many with memories they will cherish and it is through those memories that he will live on in all of us.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Joe and Francis Wilson; his sister-in-law, Jackie Wilson; and his sister, Dottie Ann Lawrence.
Herman is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joan Pearson; son, Jonathan Pearson and wife, Angie; daughter, Alicia Pearson; grandchildren, Victoria, Heather, Katy and John Riley; brother, Jackie Dan Pearson; brother-in-law, Mike Wilson and wife Becky; nephews Jeffrey Lawerence and wife, Elena (JJ), Chris Wilson and wife, Jennifer (Jessica and Kristen), and Ben Wilson and wife, Ashley (Tyler Ann); and too many friends to try and list.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Coryell County Pet Rescue, 2217 E. Main St., Gatesville, TX 76528.
