Homer Perryman

Homer Perryman age 88 of the Harman community, passed away on Monday, Oct. 28, 2019 in Waco.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2019 at Pidcoke United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jim Hartley officiating.  Burial will follow at Pidcoke Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Homer was born on April 26, 1931 in the Harman community of Coryell County, to the late Glenn and Rosie Rosin Perryman.  He attended school in Harman, Pidcoke and graduated from Gatesville High School in 1948.  He farmed and ranched until the Korean Conflict, until which time, he entered the U.S. Army and served with the 531st Anti-Aircraft Battalion.  He was honorably discharged in 1955.  He married Sara Lee Survant on July 13, 1968.  He was a farmer and rancher on his family’s ranch in the Harman community.  Homer had a special interest in grasses and soil conservation.  He served on the Board of Directors of the Hamilton-Coryell Soil Conservation District for almost 20 years.  He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural-route carrier in 1996.  He was chairman of the Coryell County Historical Commission for over 16 years.  He was an active member of Pidcoke United Methodist Church, which his family was deeply rooted in.  He served as treasurer of the church for many years and was currently the oldest member.  He was a 50 year member of Gatesville Masonic Lodge #197 A.F. & A.M. Following his family heritage, he served on the Pidcoke Cemetery Association Board of Directors for many years.    

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Glenn Perryman, Jr., Rosin Watkins and LuWin Cathey.

Homer is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sara Lee Perryman; daughter, Margaret Ellen (Maggie) Wilson and husband, Brooks; one grandson, Max Bartlett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Pidcoke United Methodist Church, 11230 FM 116, Gatesville, TX 76528 or the Pidcoke Cemetery Assn., 105 River Ridge Dr., Gatesville, TX 76528.
