James William Chandler, age 16, was born December 26, 2003 in Orange, Texas. James, spent most of his youth in Orange and moved to Gatesville in April of 2020. He died unexpectedly on Friday, December 4, 2020. A memorial service will be held at the Coryell Community Church in Gatesville, Texas on Monday, December 14, 2020, at 1:00 PM. James loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing and duck hunting. He was eager to learn new things and amazed all of us with his ability to trouble shoot, research and fix or design things beyond his years. He was always willing to help others and was becoming well-known in the community for the simple acts of kindness that he performed. He loved to travel and especially loved dressing up for the Texas Renaissance Festival he attended each year. He was a Junior at Gatesville High School, Class of 2022 and a valued team member of the Gatesville Dairy Queen. He was known there as “Mr. Fix-it” and always gave them something to laugh about. He will be missed by all who knew him. James was the son of Georgina Chandler of Gatesville, Texas and David Chandler of Orange, Texas. In addition to his parents, James is survived by four brothers, two sisters, and one sister-in-law. He was the grandson of Dorothy and Eddie Byrd of Oglesby, Texas and Beth and Rodney Rabren of Brazoria, Texas. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. For family and friends who reside in the Orange, Texas area a pending second memorial is being planned by James’ father, David Chandler at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you consider a memorial donation in James’ name to the Cameron Park Zoo in Waco, Texas.
